Chernobyl didn't really seem like the work of a very eco-friendly government, also the Soviets caused the Aral sea to shrink and was one of the biggest environmental disasters of the 20th century lol.

Chernobyl could’ve been much worst if it wasn’t for Soviet action although. Also what about the baja california wetlands, the pollution of Lake Okeechobee, the mississippi dead zone and the thinning of Lake Chad and many much worst ecological disasters under capitalism

It happened before too, with the Kyshtym disaster. Also the Soviets dumping toxic waste in lake Baikal and Norilsk, the most polluted city in the world, happened under the Soviets too.
